Becoming Homeowners

Brett and I have been on the House Hunt for a few months now, and becoming a Homeowner is finally a reality! We have been searching the Orlando Border and all it’s neighborhoods, including Lake Mary, Longwood, Winter Springs and Ocoee, but when we visited the town of Winter Garden, Brett and I fell in love.

The property that we viewed was in a gated community, a great size for a first home with backyard entertaining potential, right across the street from a great trail in the neighborhood, The West Orange Trail, and walking distance to Downtown Winter Garden, which is the cutest little brick road town with mom and pop shops and restaurants, and an always bustling town center.

Once we entered the neighborhood we knew it was for us!

We decided to place an offer on the house right away. Since the house needed some work, Brett and I applied for a 203k loan, which would allow us to take money out that would be used for updating and renovations.  Since this type of loan takes longer than your typical FHA loan, the bank unfortunately did not accept our offer.

We were pretty upset at first, especially after picturing ourselves walking the trail on weekends and what renovations we wanted to do, but it wasn’t long after that I was searching for new listings when I saw the same house pop up, with a reduced listing price!

I knew right away that it was a sign and that his house was meant for us!  I called Brett to let him know and we both agreed that we needed to grab this house fast and go with a normal FHA loan to make sure that we get it.

Sure enough, last week, Brett and I found out that the bank accepted our offer!

This weekend we went to Winter Garden to do another walk through of the house, and as we did, Brett and I knew that this was the house for us. It needs to be updated and a few things need to be renovated, but we couldn’t be more excited to take them on and make this house our own!

Our Home To-Be

The next step now, is the home inspection, which is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. As long as everything is in good repair, we should be able to close on December 14th! Perfect timing right before the holidays, and in time for our growing family to get settled in.

Yes, that is right. I said growing family. Not only did Brett and I find out about the house this past week, but also that I am pregnant!

It has been a whirlwind of a week and part of the reason why I have been MIA for the past 2 weeks. I wasn’t really sure how to go about writing about my fitness and eating habits, when they have changed so much since I found out about the news! But since it is out in the open, I am looking forward to sharing my progress in staying healthy and fit during my pregnancy! Talk about a crazy week!

Winston is going to be a big brother!

I will check in on the house progress after our home inspection tomorrow, wish us luck!!
