The kitchen was our next renovation to tackle. The bank had obviously made some decent upgrades to the cabinets and counter tops in order to sell the property, but they were actually unfinished, so we had to do something to make them look better and upgraded.
There was a lot that we wanted in our new kitchen, so to save on costs and fit them into our budget, we kept all the cabinetry as they were in great condition and just gave them a facelift. We had our contractor re-finish all the cabinets with Rustoleum stain in the color we liked best. With the hardware added, it really made a huge difference.
You can see in the image attached that we also had our contractor add an outlet in the island. I really wanted this addition to make that space more usable as a prep area. I actually ended up putting my Keurig and coffee accessories here, which saves a lot of the counter space near the sinks and stove which we use more while we cook.
The addition of the stainless steel appliances really add a lot to the kitchen of course. And I am in LOVE with our backsplash.
From this view, you can see that we added some drop lighting over the bar. Another one of our extra little additions that I just love!
We also did a treatment to the back of the island to make it look more like a part of the kitchen and look like wood cabinets. You can’t really tell from the photo, but we added some wood molding to the back of the island to add some embellishment.
From this view, you can also see the molding that we added to the top of the cabinets that adds a sophistication that I really like.
The kitchen went through quite a transformation and we are really happy with how it all turned out!
I think my favorite part of the kitchen renovation is the island. I love the lights over the bar, the outlet that was moved for convenience, and the additional detailing on the back.
What change to our kitchen did you think made the most impact on the final outcome?
