Obstacle Race Training Workout

Good Morning MSS Readers!

The weather is beautiful this morning and perfect for my first attempt at a training run for my upcoming Dirty Girl Mud Run on November 23.

I have never run in an obstacle race before, so I wanted to get a feel for what it would be like to have to complete different body weight exercises during a 30 minute run, which is usually my 5k pace, on a good day. :)

I came up with the following workout and it really challenged me!

Obstacle Race Training Workout

The trail is always packed on a Saturday morning, so I felt a little silly doing burpees on the side of the trail. But if anything, people probably think I am hardcore and it made me push even harder! :)

I am definitely going to continue this workout throughout my training for my race. I can also switch up the exercises in between each 5 minute run. Some other great moves would be, russian twists, split jumps, tricep dips and step-ups. My trail has benches all along it that could work great for the tricep dips and step-ups.

Now off to run some errands!

What are you up to today?

I’ll have to take more pictures! I need to figure out how to get videos on the blog… I don’t think I have that ability. Maybe I can start a youtube page? :)
