Day at the Pumpkin Patch

I love the traditions that come along with Halloween. I have always loved coming up with costumes and I feel like the holiday really brings out the creative side in all of us.

I could not wait to start our Halloween traditions in our new neighborhood with our new family! Rylee and I got extra use out of our Lady Bug Costumes on a visit to the pumpkin patch.

I was very interested in finding the perfect family of pumpkins, but also very focused on finding the perfect photo op.

Grandma got in on the action too, of course.

It was such a beautiful day for picking a pumpkin and really made us feel like Fall was here.

I loved the little scene that was set up for families for photographs!

I was so glad my Mom got to enjoy the day with us and join in on the family tradition fun!

When we got home, I admired our little family of pumpkins that we chose.

And then it was time for my favorite part.

The carving of the pumpkins!

Brett’s pumpkin was originally the larger one, cause he’s the Daddy, but I ended up choosing a more complicated design for my pumpkin, so I totally stole his.

Those who know me well, could have guessed what I chose this year:

The Mockingjay, for my love of The Hunger Games, of course!!

It was pretty genius of me to come up with that one, I know. :)

And I am glad I stuck with it, cause it came out awesome! In fact, all of our pumpkins did!

And the lighting of the pumpkins revealed:

Happy Halloween!

What did you carve into your pumpkin?

Was it Halloween related, or  a symbol of one of your favorite things?

If you enjoyed my post, I would love to hear from you in the comments section below!

Thank you!

Jane I can’t believe how great the mockingjay came out. What did you use to carve it? Bretts and Rylee’s came out great too.

I know! It looks so good! We just used some standard kitchen knives from our butcher’s block, in different sizes. Thanks!!
