This weekend Brett and I were invited to our good friends’ Jeff and Wally’s house for a Holiday Party!
We were so excited to see them again and all of our friends who we haven’t seen in a while. And it just so happened that Brett’s parents wanted to come in this weekend to see Rylee and were more than happy to watch her for the night.
We were asked to bring a dessert to the party and I definitely wanted to bring something homemade, so as we were out running errands, I remembered the delicious pie that my mom and I made for Thanksgiving and how easy it was to make.
The recipe only calls for a few ingredients as well.
- 2 Bars of Baker’s Semi Sweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
- Ready-made chocolate cookie crust
- 1 Cup Whipping Cream
- 6 Tablespoons Seedless Raspberry Jam
- Fresh Raspberries
- 1 Tablespoon Water
And it is as easy as:
- Combine chocolate and whipping cream in microwave safe bowl
- Heat for 2 minutes, stirring after each minute
- Whisk until mixture is smooth and fully blended
- Add 2 Tablespoons Raspberry Jam, mix well
- Pour Mixture into crust and refrigerate for 4 hours
- Top with fresh raspberries
- Combine water and remaining raspberry jam in microwave safe dish and heat for 30 seconds
- Whisk together to create a smooth glaze and pour overtop the raspberries
A delicious homemade dessert was added to the dessert table:
Woa! Talk about a dessert table!
Jeff and Wally’s house is always such a great time! I used to work with them and so I always get to reunite with old co-workers and friends when we go over there. Plus their house is so nice, especially when decorated for the holidays!
We played card games, had drinks, hung out on the patio around a bonfire and played ring toss, all before lining up at the buffet line for dinner.
A catered meal from Maggiano’s, a delicious Italian restaurant in the area.
There was so much food!
Brett and I were of course the first people in line!
After everyone was finished eating, it was time for the Tacky White Elephant Gift Exchange. This gift exchange was different than most I have participated in the past, but made for a super funny and entertaining time. We were all told to bring something in our home that we no longer want or need – the tackier the better. I am not even going to show you all what we brought because I want to remain anonymous to those who attended the party and reading this. I am 100% sure that we won the award for tackiest gift. Hey, I guess that means we brought the best gift though, right?
In the end, I think Amanda left the party with the best gift.
A pink Snuggie. With Pockets!
After dessert, everyone had to get home to their babysitters – it seemed like, including us I guess, and it was time to call it a night.
Not before leaving with a couple bottles of Jeff’s famous, homemade Kahlua, though!
Sunday morning, we all slowly woke up and Brett cooked us a lovely breakfast. We played with Rylee and fed her first and second breakfast and first lunch before heading out for a family walk on the West Orange Trail.
Can you find Winston in the picture below?
That little guy was so tired! He could barely make it into town, so we had to put him in the basket below Rylee on the stroller.
And of course a walk into town is not complete without a stop at my favorite coffee shop for an afternoon pick-me up, Axum Coffee.
I had to get my favorite drink, the White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle Latte.
Their presentation is great! I usually take my drink to go, but this time, when served in the latte cup, it was so pretty and so good! I am definitely making sure I stick around the shop to enjoy my latte from now on.
Rylee really enjoyed her time in town, too!
Ok Say Cheese take 2:
There we go! The sun started shinning in our face right at the moment of the first pic!
We headed back home on the trail to watch some football before Brett’s parents had to hit the road.
And the rest of us napped and enjoyed some family time watching football together. A perfect Sunday!
