I am still on a high at what a wonderful weekend I had with my best friend Samantha this past weekend!
She came up to visit us, from South Florida, and check out our house for the first time. She was such a wonderful guest to have!
I have known her since high school, where we were inseparable, and she always knows how to have a good time. This weekend was no exception!
I feel like we did so much even though she got here after work on Saturday night.
We got all dolled up and headed out for a little girl time at a local wine bar.
We caught up and talked all night before we realized we were shutting the place down! There was live music there, too, and they were wonderful! We both were loving the saxophone player, he was so good!
The next day we got up early and enjoyed some pancakes as a family before headed out on the West Orange Trail.
It was a beautiful day, although pretty hot, and we had a great time chatting away on the trail.
We stopped into town at my favorite coffee place for an iced latte to help us cool down.
Rylee was taking in the scenery and loved the walk, like always!
We stopped off in the cool air conditioning of Savoree, the new restaurant in town and could tell Rylee was getting tired so we decided to head back after we ate.
On the way back, Samantha had the awesome idea to make up a workout as we completed the walk back home and I was all about it! And that is why I love this girl!
We ended up walking 2 minutes and then stopping to complete each of the following: step ups on a bench, squats, single leg dead-lifts, sumo squats and pulses, and alternating side lunges with torso twist. Then to add a cardio boost, we did jumping jacks and knee kicks every two minutes for the last 10 minutes of the walk. It was a great workout and we ended up having so much energy afterwards, too!
When we got home, we completed a 15 minute Get Focused Ab workout from the Nike Training App AND even played a little Dance Central 2!
We have always been dance partners and love getting the party started when there is music playing!
I remember at football games, I was on the dance team and she was on the cheerleading squad, and she would always run over to do some dance moves with me! Ha! I wish I had a throwback photo of us! Now I gotta go home and dig one up….
Anyways, it was so fun to dance around the house with her! And little Rylee was very intrigued by the whole scene.
I loved having Samantha over to get to know Rylee, too. I definitely want her to grow up knowing such a great friend of mine and it was so great to see Rylee warm up to her after a little while!
They played very nice together! In fact, Samantha learned how to speak baby talk while she was here and they had many – interesting – conversations with each other.
She definitely knows how to make her laugh, that is for sure!
While we were together this past weekend, and really motivated about working out and being healthy, I asked her if she had ever heard of Tone it Up, a best friend duo who are fitness and health instructors and have a great program geared towards women trying to get in the best beach body shape ever.
Of course, she said yes, and we both love those girls! They are just so happening to be starting a Bikini Series challenge that will get you toned up and ready for bikini season in 8 weeks. And we found out that we had both signed up for it!
So, we committed to taking the challenge together!
It started yesterday and the challenge was great! We are looking forward to cheering each other on along the way!
It also inspired us to eat healthy and we started our mornings off with a bowl of organic oatmeal with craisons and walnuts and a little bit of cinnamon sprinkled on top.
It was such a great and active weekend! We had such a blast together, like always!
What did you do this weekend to stay active? Let me know in the comments field below. Would love to hear from you!
