Today is your first birthday.
It still seems like you are my little baby, but soon we will have to call you a toddler!
I can’t believe how fast you are growing and how much you are changing every day.
You still love your big brother very much, though.
In fact, you love him so much you always share your meals with him now that you can feed yourself.
It is very amusing to watch you as you figure out which piece to give him. And then you lean over the high chair just to watch him and make sure he got it.
Although it means you are growing up so fast, I love to dress you up in your big girl clothes, including shoes!
You have not taken your first step yet, but school says you should get used to wearing them because when you move up to Toddler A, you gotta wear shoes.
Which means you are going to be walking any day now and I don’t even know how I am going to react or feel when I see you stand by yourself and take that first step. I am trying to figure out if I am going to jump for joy or cry my eyes out. Or immediately run to Home Depot for baby proofing supplies, since we have yet to baby proof the house! I know I should be patient. You will get to take many steps sooner than later!
One thing you do have many of is teeth!
From what I hear at school, you have a lot of teeth for your age, compared to your classmates!
I think it is because you just love eating foods! You are always so curious to know what we are eating and want to try whatever it is. Like when you bit right into Daddy’s apple!
I’ll never forget when you and I competed in our very first 5k race together, the Run in the Garden 5k.
I feel like we will be able to continue staying active together as you grow up, and I think you really enjoyed the run!
You definitely enjoy being in our new jogging stroller.
I think it may be because of the snacks…
Oh and I can’t forget to tell you how smart you are! You can wave and clap your hands, turn the pages of a book and drop the ball into your slide toy that you love. I swear just yesterday I asked you for the green ball and you handed it to me! There was a red, orange and blue ball there, too, but you handed me the green one! I was amazed!
And you always share your toys with others, it is so cute.
Which is how I know you are going to be such a sweetheart and a wonderful big sister one day.
I can’t get enough of you! Your so fun to be around, even when you are due for your afternoon nap.
I really cannot believe it has been one year already. As I put up your Happy Birthday banner this morning, I thought to myself how fun life is now that you are here.
I thought about the many more birthdays we are going to get to celebrate together and how much fun we are going to have going on family vacations and running our next race together.
It has been such a wonderful year and words cannot express what being a mom is like. What being your mom is like. I feel so lucky to have such an amazing daughter in my life. The special bond that we have is indescribable and I am so looking forward to another year of getting to know you and watching you grow.
You are the first thing I think of when I wake up in the morning and the last thing I think about when I go to bed.
I love you so much.
P.S. I love you, Mom.
P.P.S. Brett, we have a special bond, too. Love you!
