Being a homeowner has been so amazing. It has definitely taken a lot of work and a lot of moo-lah to make it exactly what Brett and I both want. But knowing that this is our home we are building together makes investing in it so worth it and fun even! I never knew going to home depot and shopping for light fixtures and kitchen cabinet organization could be this fun!
Brett and I did a ton of renovations to our home when we first bought it. We made huge changes to most of the house from the kitchen to the bathrooms and everything in between.
But one thing we wanted more than anything, was to make our backyard into an entertaining and relaxing space where we can have guests over or just enjoy the quiet nature of our backyard as a family.
If you remember from my Backyard Bliss Renovation Recap, this is the before an after of our backyard from when we purchased the home to when we added the first few touches to making it our own:
We always knew we wanted a fence and Brett’s idea was to put the paver patio in which I absolutely love! It makes for a great space for dining and grilling outside of the screened in patio.
We got the fence and pavers done within the first year of moving in, but it did take us a while longer to furnish the inside patio. We had to save some more and needed some more time to figure out exactly what we wanted.
We are definitely a thrifty family, so we found a very affordable set that fit exactly what we were looking for from Walmart.
It came with all the seating pieces and the table.
I love how this space looks with the rug. It really ties it all together and makes it such an inviting area.
We love being out there enjoying the trees and the quiet of our backyard.
But there’s still more we want to do! We need to get some fans out there so we can still enjoy it in this summer heat and some good lighting so that we can hang out there at night.
But that is the joy of owning a home, there’s always something you can do to it to make it your perfect home!
Until our next backyard makeover! I’m thinking about getting into gardening. 😉
