You are 16 months old now and I cannot believe how much you have learned. Your personality is beaming and you are definitely one to let us know what you do and do not want.
I can tell that you are cautious, but at times I feel like you can be a little dare devil.
When you try something for the first time, you are a little hesitant about it until it goes alright… and then you just can’t stop. Like when I throw you up on my shoulders, or when I rocket ship you through the hallway in your box or when I 1-2-3 throw you on the bed — you are fearless and you can’t get enough.
Brett and I are always so amazed when you actually reply to us the answers to our questions, again affirming your ability to let us know exactly what you want to be doing and when. We can ask you if you want to go “night, night” and you actually nod your head no! Or when we ask you if you are hungry, you know to shake your head yes.
The fact that you have been speaking to us in sign language, is unbelievable and so amazing!
Even though you are amazing at sign language, we are starting to encourage you to start speaking your words now. And you have even been starting to pronounce some words.
On, off, up and down are your most enthusiastic words at the moment. And although they all sound the exact same when you say them, it’s actually pretty cool that we understand what you mean. You are also starting to say “uh, oh” and that is most likely because I say that pretty much every time you drop something or fall down… which is a lot.
The other day you saw a bunny rabbit for the first time. You read about them in your books, and you even pet one in the touch and feel book. But when you saw the real thing and smiled from ear to ear, petting its soft fur, I was beaming just as much as you were. I finally think you are ready for the zoo, which is so exciting. Or better yet, for Disney World! It’s truly amazing to come to the realization that you are able to understand and identify with animals and I can’t wait to show you everything.
You already identify with Mickey Mouse and I don’t know how Disney does it, but you are obsessed! Which is totally fine with me because I have been wanting to take you to Disney since before you were born!
I love that you are a water baby, just like me.
You love taking baths and swimming in the pool. In fact, you beg us for baths every night. It is so fun to watch you swim in the bath tub and kick, kick, kick your little leggies.
I love who you are becoming more and more everyday. I don’t care if I over-parent you, or pick you up when you cry, or give you whatever you want. I can’t help it. You are so amazing and what you have done to me as a person is just something I could have never imagined. I know in my heart that no matter what I do, your gonna grow up to be something great.
Thank you for being awesome.
You mean more to me than you will ever know.
