A Pretty Kitty Halloween 2014

I hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween weekend!

We had the most gorgeous weather this past weekend, it really felt like Fall!

This year, for Rylee’s 2nd Halloween, we all dressed up like Kitty Cats! Rarr!

We actually celebrated the holiday for a week straight! My parents came up the weekend before for the annual Winter Park Trick or Treating event that we went to last year, when Rylee was a Lady Bug.

We met up with our good friends Fabiana and Madeleine again this year and the girls were so cute walking up to everyone to get their candy!

I really don’t think that Rylee knew what the candies were, but she definitely loved the idea of getting the colorful pieces and putting them in her pumpkin bag!

And I am so glad that I kept it that way throughout the whole trick or treating experience! I made sure not to give her any candy until the festivities were over. Otherwise, she would have kept asking me for candy every time she got some and at this age, she does not know when to stop.

So right before we left for the pumpkin patch I gave her a little piece of chocolate and yeah.. she loved it.

But she was more interested in those big, round, orange things to want anymore. Score! The power of distraction!

“Mah! I want this one!”

Of course she went for one of the largest pumpkins in the patch and tried to pick it up!

Then we found a nice Rylee sized one!

“Ok, this one will do.”

“Sit on this thing? Oh, for a picture… fine.”

“Nice. I found a wagon!”

That weekend we also got a little over-excited and carved our pumpkins a bit early!

I had a great time doing it, though, and this time my mom wanted to stay for the fun, so she carved Brett’s pumpkin.

They came out so good!

On the night of Halloween, I took Rylee downtown to Winter Garden for their annual Halloween event while Brett held down the fort at home handing out candy.

There was so much to do there, with live music, vendors and trick or treat stations!

“Yeah, yeah, yeah!”

They even had a free hayride that Rylee loved!

“This is just like a big, giant wagon! Cool, Mom!”

It was so packed though and once it got dark out, I was ready to head home. It was hard to keep track of little Rylee in the mob of people and she kept running off every time she saw something new!

Like these giant pumpkins!

"Yeah, definitely not gonna try to pick that one up!"

“Yeah, definitely not gonna try to pick that one up!”

We had such a blast and it just made me think about how much Rylee is going to love Halloween next year when she can pick out her own costume and trick or treat around the neighborhood all on her own!

Looking forward to it!

What were you dressed up as for Halloween?

What did you carve into your pumpkins?

Half Marathon Update:

Between these two weekends, I ran 8 miles one Saturday and 9 miles the next! I am so ready for my half marathon this weekend and can’t wait to tell you all about it!

Last Saturday, right after Halloween, I went on a 6 mile run, but once I got home I still wanted to run so ended up heading out for another 3 miles. I think it was the mix of great weather, excitement for the race and a really good song!
