I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving!
We had such a great time with my family and enjoyed the long weekend together.
Rylee was such a great helper the entire weekend! She actually loves being put to work and was great at helping us with the desserts.
And this year she really enjoyed the Macy’s Parade. Her favorite float was Hello Kitty!
She has been playing with a Hello Kitty sticker book at home and I was so surprised when she recognized her right away!
We weren’t planning on eating until around 5pm, so while the turkey was cooking, we all indulged in the best cheese and charcuterie platter we have ever thought up!
All of the cheeses we got were from Whole Foods and they were all so creamy and flavorful. We couldn’t stop eating them!
Which is why we all ended up resting BEFORE the feast while watching football!
When it was time to eat, Brett did the honors, his yearly duty, and carved the turkey once again.
Yup! That’s the annual picture!
We were ready to chow down! My favorite time of the year is a Thanksgiving feast!
Rylee’s desserts came out amazing too! Mini cheesecakes that we enjoyed along side of a delicious Irish coffee.
Friday we all took a trip to Lion Country Safari, a zoo/amusement park close by my parent’s house.
I was so excited to take Rylee to the zoo for the first time now that she is recognizing animals in all of her books.
Before entering the park, there is a 20 minute drive through a safari where the animals are wild and can run free.
Since my best friend Samantha was joining us and we didn’t have a car large enough for us and Rylee’s car seat, we rented one of these bad boys:
Rylee loved seeing the animals!
We also got to feed giraffes, one of our favorite attractions.
Visit the petting zoo.
That was fun, too. Only I kept getting a little nervous around the goats with horns right at face level of Rylee. They weren’t aggressive, but I was still a little cautious.
And Budgie feeding!
That was super fun! The little birdies came right down on our sticks of food and chomped away. Rylee loved seeing the birdies up close. There was a moment where Samantha and I had 3 Budgies on our hands at once!
And we finished the day with some rides like the Carousel. It took a few times around for Rylee to let go and wave to Grandma!
We had such a blast!
Saturday, my mom and I saw Mockingjay Part I together.
It’s been a tradition of ours since the Twilight movies came out to see a movie together over Thanksgiving break. We both absolutely loved the movie so much! We even sat through all of the credits in awe of the entire production. It was so good and we can’t wait to see Part II coming out next year!
We had such a great time and I cannot believe that the weekend is already over. We hung out the rest of the day, eating leftovers and taking walks around the neighborhood with Rylee and Winston.
We made it back home and back to work in the real world, but as I look back at what a wonderful weekend we had, I am so happy! We had perfect weather and experienced new things together as a family and it was the best!
What was the best part of your Thanksgiving break?
