New Year, New Fitness Routine, New Goals

It’s well into January, but I still have not had the chance to set some goals for myself this year.

I usually always have a health + fitness goal in the New Year to get back to eating healthy and working out regularly, and it’s usually an easy one for me to set. The holidays always throw off my schedule, so focusing on getting back to the gym it is the target.

But this year, I am getting specific with my goal and I am going to push myself to get there. The first goal I wanted to set for myself was to get back into running.

I haven’t run a race in a long time and I know that if I schedule one, it will motivate me more to actually run. Plus it’s exciting! And I know exactly what race I want to run in to kick off my year. The Zimmerman Kiser Sutcliffe Winter Park Road Race 10k. I ran it a few years ago and it was the first race I ran in where Rylee greeted me at the finish line.

Zimmerman 10k - Best Prize EverIt was such a great course, a challenging distance with beautiful scenery and really cool swag. (Yes, I run for the accomplishment, but I also love an awesome metal and a legit etched glass souvenir to remember it by.)

So for the next few weeks, I’ll be focusing on training for the race, eating well to fuel me through it and fulfilling my fitness goal for this quarter.

I am looking forward to the race so much, that I believe training is going to be a breeze. And the race isn’t until March, so I have the entire quarter to push me through and really push myself to beat my previous time, and keep me motivated to do so.
